How I work
My approach is psychodynamic and Jungian which means I will help you explore the unconscious aspects of thoughts and feelings that may be keeping you from living a more satisfying and productive life. This type of therapy seeks to uncover the deeper roots of troublesome behaviours – the idea is to explore motivations and patterns of relating that are causing conflict, patterns which are difficult to recognise or change on your own. Over time, this kind of therapy can give you greater self-awareness, well being and allows you to make more gratifying life decisions.
Will therapy work for you?
Therapy is an individual experience; no two people have the same emotional make-up or life experiences. An important factor in the progress of therapy is the working relationship that develops between you and the therapist. However, it may not feel easy to see a therapist for the first time or to open up to someone new.
For these reasons, I would suggest that we have an initial consultation in which we can explore your concerns and what you would like to get from therapy. This will give you an opportunity to see how we might work together.
There is no commitment for ongoing work at this stage. If you decide to continue, we can agree a regular day and time to meet on an ongoing basis. Ongoing sessions are at a minimum of once weekly and last for 50 minutes. I offer appointments in the morning, evenings and during the day, so it is possible to fit in with your schedule.
The fee for an initial consultation is £70. Fees for ongoing sessions are agreed between us when we meet. Payment is by cheque or cash, I do not accept credit or debit cards.
I reserve a limited number of places for those on low income.
